Page 138; Think about you own use of analysis:

In the last week I have had to make several small decisions. On a daily basis some of the smaller choices I have to make are:
·         -What time I need to up by
·         -What time do I need to get Emerson up, dressed, and fed
·         -The time do I need to leave my house by to get to work or school on time
·         -If I have night class then I need to decide to ask to pick Emerson up from daycare
·         -What to make Emerson and I for dinner

Small choices in the past month:
·         -What bills to pay and when
·         -The days Emerson goes to his Grandma’s house
·         -Emerson’s monthly daycare schedule

I also have to make big decisions on a weekly basis:
·         -What days and hours I’m going to work
·         -Patient flow at work
·         -Supply ordering at work
·         -When to go grocery shopping/What I need
·        - What homework do I need to have completed for the next day

Big decisions in the past month:
·         -To go back to school
·         -Which school to go to
·         -What classes and times

Big decisions in the past year:
·         -What car to buy (sedan or SUV)
·       -  Do I want a car payment or a cheaper car with no payment
·         -Major for school-Nursing or Hygiene
·        - What dental assisting jobs to apply for

Over the past year I make small decisions on a daily basis and are usually the same because my son is my number one priority and are daily routines are pretty consistent. My chart can basically show you that my life primarily revolves around my son, work, and school.

Two of the most popular websites you can find me on will be the Sephora website or the MAC website. I don’t get out of the house much besides for work or school, so I do a lot of online shopping, even for makeup.  The Sephora website is very user friendly. On the home page it has new products to try and current sales. There’s different tabs at the top that categorize different products such as make up or skin care. It has pictures for every product and they sell more than just one brand and gives customer reviews for them. It is full of pops and colors. The MAC website is also user friendly, if you know what you’re looking for, otherwise it is difficult to navigate. It is a lot edgier than the Sephora sight and only sells their brand of makeup. They have pictures and sketches for different looks and directions on how to achieve that look, but only give makeup artists reviews.
I think Sephora is a better website because the layout of their website is a lot easier; within the first glance you can see which category you’re looking for if you’re not just browsing through. It has images of the product, price, and shows other options of similar products or what other products that would go with it. Such as when I’m looking at eye shadows, underneath that product’s detail it shows different colors for your specific eye color to help your eyes ‘pop’. They also have a clearance section, because who doesn’t like discounts?
I would change the MAC website to make it more consumer friendly by adding customer reviews with the makeup artists reviews because not everyone is a makeup artist and has that form of skill. I would also add ‘every day’ looks instead of just runway looks because not everyone that wear their makeup is a runway model. The format could also be changed by making it easier to navigate with product categories such as one for the Viva Glam line and one for their skin care line.

Collaborative Writing on Writing

What is writing?
Definition:
A form of communicative media expressed through pre-ordained written symbols

How it’s used:
creative expression, documentation, instruction, ideas, personal journals, etc.

How does one’s persona (tone, level of formality, etc.) shift depending on your audience?
  • Translate your idea into a format your audience can relate to in order to communicate effectively.

  • Overall intent of the communication influences persona

  • Level of respect or comfortability with the audience can alter tone/level of formality
Why?

In order to best express your message, a writer has to take into account the perceptions and interests of their audience as well as their personal vendetta regarding the outcome of their own expression. This is achieved through literary persona and tone.
